Gorongosa National Park
The Gorogosa National Park lies along the border with the Kruger National Park in South Africa. It was ravaged by civil war and poaching for nearly 40 years but a reintroduction and conservation project is returning it to its former Eden.
Gorongosa offers some of the most diverse game viewing of any African reserve as it is situated at the southern end of the Great Rift Valley and its varied landscapes and ecosystems are home to many different species of animals. The park is still less visited than the islands and coast of Mozambique but offers off the beaten track game viewing experiences at the few lodges which are there.
