Whale Encounters
South Africa offers some of the best land-based whale watching on the planet at coastal towns such as Hermanus. There are many walking paths along the cliff. Whales gather in the coves and bays below to mate. They are easy to spot as they breach and blow in the surf below.
Guests can also set out on boat exciting cruises. The boats can approach the whales up to 50m before stopping to observe them. Sometimes the whales swim closer, perhaps even swimming under the boat, as they are naturally curious and come to check out their guests.
The whale watching trip begins by a whale specialist guide before heading down the jetty to the catamaran. The Whale Specialist guide will interpret the marine life encountered en route and provide insight into the behaviour of the whales while guests are watching them in action.
This is a truly memorable encounter where guests can encounter the largest marine creatures and learn about the many threats in the ocean which they face.
